New Mexican Restaurant Aims To Open By April In Wheaton
On Thursday, the city's liquor commission unanimously recommended La Plaza Taqueria's request for a full liquor license.
WHEATON, IL — La Plaza Taqueria is on track to open by April after Wheaton's liquor commission unanimously recommended their request for a full liquor license Thursday. The family-oriented Mexican restaurant will focus on "high-quality ingredients and traditional flavors with a modern touch," owner Isaac Sepulveda told Patch.
Sepulveda said the menu will include ribeye steak tacos, carne asada, al pastor and more. La Plaza Taqueria will also feature fresh seafood and ceviches, he said. Authentic Mexican breakfast dishes will be available all day.
The alcohol menu will include beer, wine, margaritas, palomas, and micheladas, along with "a curated selection of tequila and mezcal," Sepulveda told Patch.

He said the dining room will have capacity for 60 guests, with table and bar seating available. The restaurant will also have patio seating and is in the process of designing the al fresco area and securing permits, a manager said during the liquor commission meeting.
Sepulveda said, "We are excited to bring a vibrant yet family-oriented dining option to the Wheaton community."

The city council will review La Plaza's liquor license request on March 2.
