Newborn Baby Hope Took 'At Least One Breath' Before She Died: DuPage County Cops

Exactly one year after the body of newborn Baby Hope was discovered in a backpack near Wheaton, police are still looking for her parents.

WHEATON, IL — Tuesday marks one year since Baby Hope's body was found in a backpack in an unincorporated part of Wheaton and DuPage County police have just released a chilling fact about the abandoned newborn. In a press release, police said the DuPage County Coroner confirmed that Baby Hope "took at least one breath before she passed away."

Though Baby Hope may have only lived for a moment, her story goes on as community members honor her memory and police continue their now year-long search for her parents.

Two months after the discovery of Baby Hope's body last August, police used DNA technology via Parabon NanoLabs to generate images of what her parents might look like. The DNA phenotyping revealed that Baby Hope's parents were "of Latino ancestry." Police have released the photos above to the public in the hopes that someone will be able to identify Baby Hope's parents. There is currently a $5,000 reward for anyone who has information that helps police find the missing parents.
