Person Dies Hours After Being Found Guilty, Taken Into Custody At DuPage County Jail

Police say the person being detained had a "medical emergency" shortly after being taken into custody.

WHEATON, IL — A person who was being detained at DuPage County Jail died just hours after they were found guilty, according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).

A news release from DCSO said the person was found guilty at the DuPage County Courthouse around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 and was taken into custody. Around 5:30 p.m., they experienced a "medical emergency," per DCSO.

An ambulance transported them to Central DuPage Hospital where they received medical treatment before being pronounced dead.
