Public Hearing Set For Planned Renovation, Addition To Islamic Center Of Wheaton
Islamic Center of Wheaton is seeking approval for renovations and a 34,000 square foot addition to house a youth center and classrooms.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton's planning and zoning board will conduct a public hearing May 27 for a proposed renovation and addition to The Islamic Center of Wheaton (ICW), 900 E. Geneva Rd.
The petitioner is requesting a special use permit amendment for renovations to the current building, along with a 34,000 square foot addition and slight changes to their parking configuration.
The proposed two-story addition continues the next phase of ICW's masjid expansion. This phase of expansion includes building a school and youth center with classrooms, study spaces, a youth lounge and multipurpose areas.

In late September 2025, ICW celebrated the completion of a parking lot for the youth center. The current parking lot request would reconfigure the current parking area to add three more parking stalls.
In a LaunchGood fundraising campaign for the youth center, ICW wrote that the expansion comes amid growth within the student population.

"Spaces are rearranged daily to accommodate everyone," they wrote, adding that may programs share spaces and "[y]outh activities compete with school operations."
ICW wrote, "Our children are navigating a world filled with distractions, confusion, and pressure. They need more than weekend programs. They need consistent Islamic education. They need mentorship. They need a place where faith and identity are strengthened daily."
