Ralph Hammond, 87, Oct. 3, 1923 - Jun. 21, 2011
Visitation and services for Ralph Hammond will be Saturday, Jun. 25, at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Ralph Vernon Hammond, of Oswego, IL and a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011. He was 87.
He was born on October 3, 1923 in Cambridge, Ohio.
He began his career with AT&T in 1941 at the age of 17. After many relocations, he established his family home in Wheaton in 1968 and worked his remaining years with AT&T in Chicago. He retired in 1981, after 40 years of service. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War Two, and was committed to the Masons for 65 years as a a 32nd degree Scottish Rite.

In early years he enjoyed camping, golfing, and yard work. In later years, when able, he enjoyed working out at the Y, eating out, and grilling. He was a “grandpa” to many.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nathalie; two daughters, Melanie and Melinda; two granddaughters, Carrie and Kellie; four great-grandsons, Matthew, Brady, Bryce and Justin; one step great-granddaughter, Cadi; and a sister, Elaine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Clarence; a brother, James; and a sister, Alberta.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jun. 25, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 Main St, Wheaton. A memorial service will follow immediately at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
