Rollover Tanker Truck Crash Injures 2, Leaks Gasoline In Winfield
The crash closed the area near Winfield and Roosevelt Roads for nearly eight hours Thursday.
WINFIELD, IL — Two people were hurt when a crash caused a tanker truck to roll over Thursday, spilling gasoline and closing part of Winfield and Roosevelt Roads for close to eight hours.
The truck and a passenger car collided just after 10:30 a.m., which caused the tanker truck to flip and leak the gasoline it was hauling. After the crash, both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to police.
Fire crews from Winfield, Wheaton, Carol Stream, West Chicago and Hanover Park came to assist with the gasoline cleanup. The area reopened to traffic just after 6 p.m.

Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, which was still being investigated as of late Thursday, to call Winfield Police Sgt. Ben Olson at 630-933-7160.
