Roosevelt Road Corridor Meeting Planned For Aug. 8 In Wheaton
Residents are invited to a public hearing to review Wheaton's final draft plans for the Roosevelt Road Corridor.
WHEATON, IL — Wheaton residents are invited to attend an Aug. 8 public hearing to discuss the final draft of plans to redevelop the Roosevelt Road corridor.
In 2018, a team of consultants from Camiros, Ltd. and Valerie Kretchmer and Associates was chosen to develop a comprehensive plan for the Roosevelt Road corridor, which had been identified as an area of special focus in 1999. The resulting draft plan focused on the area along Roosevelt Road from Carlton Avenue to Wheaton's border of Glen Ellyn.
The Roosevelt Road Corridor Comprehensive Plan Amendment was drafted and unanimously approved for recommendation by the city's planning and zoning board in March 2019. Wheaton's city council started considering the amendment in May 2019.

"Moving into the future, the Roosevelt Road Corridor will be an aesthetically pleasing, vibrant corridor. The corridor will accommodate a number of new uses and development
forms, creating commercial and residential opportunities where they do not currently exist, while respecting the established character of the City, and acknowledging the existing residential
character both along and abutting the corridor to the north and south. Development along the
corridor will bring vitality and new opportunity for residents and businesses to come to the
City, while maintaining the high quality-of-life that current residents enjoy. The Roosevelt Road Corridor will grow into a resource that is supportive of, and supported by its community."
The Wheaton City Council will meet after the Aug. 8 hearing to weigh whether to adopt an ordinance that would incorporate the Roosevelt Road corridor plans in its Comprehensive Plan.
