See Vietnam War-Era Helicopter On Display At Cantigny Park

WHEATON, IL — A Vietnam War-era helicopter will be on display at the First Division Museum at Cantigny Park starting Sept. 1. The Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter, also known as the "Huey," will be set up outdoors near the museum grounds for at least one month.

Favored for its speed and maneuverability, the "Huey" was used during the Vietnam War for assault, transportation, evacuation and more, a news release explained.

On Sept. 24, families can attend Masters of Flight: The Nature of the Huey to learn more about the famous helicopter. Set for 6 p.m., the free event will feature activities and demonstrations. Military vehicles will be featured at the First Division Museum every Thursday throughout September, if weather permits. These events will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
