'Senior Assassin' Social Media Trend Prompts Warning From Wheaton, Warrenville Police

WHEATON, IL — On Wednesday, Wheaton and Warrenville police issued a joint news release warning resdidents about a social media trend called the "senior assassin" game.

In the game, high school seniors use Nerf guns, water guns and other toy guns to target and "eliminate" other senior students, the news release said.

Police say the game, which often lasts for weeks, may involve students hiding in public places or walking through the community with their toy guns.

The "senior assassin" game is not permitted on the grounds of Community Unit School District 200 schools or property, nor does the district endorse it.

Per the statement, the "senior assassin" game "poses a potential for very real safety concerns within our communities."

Wheaton and Warrenville police say they do not condone the game warn that the game may frighten members of the community and put others at risk unintentionally.

Parents are urged to discuss "senior assassin" and its risks with their students.
