Should Wheaton District 200 Move Back School Start Date?
Some parents within the school district think school should start on Aug. 24 instead of Aug. 17. What do you think?

Wheaton District 200 could consider moving back the start of next year’s school year, according to Suburban Life Publications.
A vocal group of parents sounded off on school start times during a Nov. 11 school board meeting with many wishing for the start of the school year to begin on Aug. 24 instead of Aug. 17, according to the article. Some of the reasons for wanting the later start included a desire to take August vacations and warmer weather later in the summer.
Some have also asked the district to have winter break run from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3, which would allow for a full business week of vacation and coordinate the return date to school with the return date to work for many parents, the newspaper reports.
