WHEATON, IL — The pedestrian tunnel at the College Avenue Metra station in Wheaton is closed due to standing water in the wake of a thunderstorm on July 23. City officials say the storm damaged the water control system and pumps inside the tunnel.

Pedestrians are urged not to walk through the tunnel's standing water and to allow for additional travel time when walking above ground to get to the train station.

Crews are waiting for replacement equipment to arrive and anticipate that the College Avenue pedestrian tunnel will be closed for the next three to four weeks.
