Take Trolley Tours To Learn Wheaton's Rich Golf History

The trolley tours spotlight former golf courses, homes of famous golfers, and more.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton has a rich history of golfing, from the city's famous golf courses to homes of famous golfers and landmarks that shaped the history of the sport. Golf enthusiasts can take a trolley tour that kicks off at Arrowhead Golf Course and spotlights Wheaton's long golfing history on July 1 and July 8.

The trolley will churn through the city, with hosts pointing out important places and sharing historical facts along the way. Each trolley rider will get a map of golf landmarks to help guide them along the hour-long tour. You can see where famous golf architects lived and learn about golf course flag and cup holders got their start in Wheaton.

The tour times are as follows:

  • July 1 at 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.
  • July 8 at 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Tickets to the Golf History Trolley Tours are $10 and can be purchased by mailing a check to Sharon Barrett-Hagen, City Clerk, City of Wheaton, 303 West Wesley Street. Checks should be made payable to City of Wheaton with Golf History Trolley Tour written in the memo.

Tickets are also available in person at the Wheaton Public Library on June 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
