AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DERMATOLOGY AND TARGET TEAM UP
FOR SKIN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Free SPOTme® Skin Cancer Screenings Offered

WHAT: May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and the American Academy of Dermatology and Target are teaming up to offer free SPOTme® skin cancer screenings to the public at select Target stores.

WHEN: Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Wheaton, IL – Visit www.SPOTme.org to find full list of screenings available in your area

HOW: Board-certified dermatologists will provide a visual inspection of exposed skin areas. Skin cancer screenings will take place in a private room near the pharmacies in select Target stores.

WHY: One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Although melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, can strike anyone, men older than 50 are at a higher risk of developing melanoma than the general population.

While approximately one person dies of melanoma every hour, skin cancer, including melanoma, is highly treatable when detected early. To reduce the number of deaths from skin cancer, the American Academy of Dermatology and its member dermatologists are providing free SPOTme® skin cancer screenings to catch skin cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.

Valuable information and resources on skin cancer prevention and detection are available at www.SPOTme.org.
