Thousands Vote Early in DuPage County

Early voting is now open at 11 sites in DuPage County. So far, over 21,000 have voted early in the county.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL - Early voting is officially under way in DuPage County and it seems to be a popular option for many so far this election season.

As of Wednesday morning, 21,248 voters have cast their ballot for the 2016 general election, said Joseph H. Sobecki, assistant executive director for the DuPage County Election Commission, in an e-mail response.

DuPage County residents have been able to vote early since Sept. 29 at the DuPage County Election Commission, which is located at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

On Monday, 10 additional sites opened for early voting. Since then, a total of 14,556 voters cast their ballot, Sobecki said. That is a considerable jump compared to the 2012 presidential election when only 5,578 had cast their ballot after the second day of early voting.

The DuPage County Election Commission has also received applications to vote by mail from 25,701 voters so far this year. During the 2012 general election, the commission had only 11,602 applicants at this point just 15 days out from the Nov. 8 election.

Some other early voting sites include the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, Bartlett Community Center, Elmhurst City Hall and the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora. For a full list of early voting sites and hours of operation, visit the DuPage County Election Commission website.
