Don't let oil (painting) foil you, journey under the sea, and see some storytelling next week.

1. Don't let oil (painting) foil you. Beginners and experienced painters are welcome to Oil Painting, starting January 9, 7-9:30P. With more than 20 years of experience, local artist Jan Ohlson teaches painting, design, composition, and oil techniques. Bring supplies to first class. Supply list available at wheatonparkdistrict.com. Class meets every Monday evening through March 27 at the Wheaton Park District Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard St.). For ages 17 and up. Register online.
2. Under the sea. Journey under the sea with Ariel and her aquatic friends with the Wheaton Park District's Children's Playhouse spring 2017 production: The Little Mermaid! Auditions take place January 10-11, 4-6P at the Wheaton Park District Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard St.). Opportunities for acting, singing, dancing, set design, choreography, and costumes are available. $5 audition fee; additional participation fee, if cast. For ages 7 to 18. Register online.
3. Storytelling, naturally. On January 10, 11-11:30A, join staff from Lincoln Marsh Natural Area at the Wheaton Public Library (225 N. Cross St.) to hear a nature story and make a craft at Nature-Telling. For ages 2 to 5 with an adult. Register by calling the library's Children's Services Department at 630.868.7540.
