3 Upcoming Wheaton Park District Events Worth Checking Out

Improve your shutter skills, better your balance, and have a crafty Christmas next week.

1. Picture me this. Smartphones have put powerful cameras into everyone's pocket, and photography is on the rise as a hobby, a creative pursuit, a calling. With Basic Photography Techniques, November 1 and November 3, 6-7:30P, improve your shutter skills and take better photos! From an iPhone or Android camera to a point-and-shoot to a DSLR and everything in between, this class will teach you far more than just how to take the lens cap off. Sessions held at the Wheaton Park District Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard St.). For ages 17 and over. Register online.

2. Fit at 50 (and beyond). Better your balance in 50+ Balance, Strength, & Stretch, a relaxing yet challenging class designed to help ward off osteoporosis. Using light resistance, we'll strengthen the body by focusing on functional fitness and complete the workout with stretching exercises. Class meets every Tuesday, November 1 through December 27, 10:35-11:30A at the Wheaton Park District Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard St.). For ages 50 and over. Register online.

3. Crafty Christmas. Whether it's a tree in the living room, antlers on the car, or elves on your sweater, it's often a family tradition to decorate for the season. At the DuPage County Historical Museum's Christmas Craft Workshop, Saturday, November 5, 1-3P, make and decorate a small Christmas wreath to celebrate the holidays. This is a family friendly, drop-in event. No registration required. Free admission. The DuPage County Historical Museum is located at 102 E. Wesley St.
