Eleven suburban schools were selected.

Here is a look at the suburban schools that were honored Tuesday as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education:
- Butler Junior High School, Oak Brook, Butler School District 53
- Emerson Elementary School, Wheaton, Wheaton-Warrenville Community Unit School District 200
- G. Kerkstra Elementary School, Oak Forest, Forest Ridge Elementary School District 142
- Hough Street School, Barrington, Barrington School District 220
- Lincoln Elementary School, River Forest, River Forest School District 90
- Longfellow Elementary School, Wheaton, Wheaton-Warrenville Community Unit School District 200
- May Watts Elementary School, Naperville, Indian Prairie School District #204
- Meadow Glens Elementary School, Naperville, Naperville Community Unit School District 203
- Old Post Elementary School, Oswego, Community Unit School District 308
- Our Lady of the Wayside School, Arlington Heights, Archdiocese of Chicago
- St. Theresa School, Palatine, Archdiocese of Chicago
