UPDATE: Winter Storm to Bring Heavy Snow, Freezing Cold Temps
A winter storm advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

A winter storm advisory has been issued for 6 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected across the area this evening and into Monday night. Light snowfall is expected to start between 5 and 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Most of the snowfall should fall after the evening rush hour in Chicago.

Between two to four inches of total snow is now predicted for most of the area with less snow expected closer to the Wisconsin border and more snow expected south and west of the city.
Visibility could be reduced to less than a 1/4-mile at times during tonight’s storm, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds are expected to pick up Tuesday, which could cause blowing and drifting snow and dangerous travel conditions. The cold is expected to continue Tuesday night through Thursday morning. Wind chill values between 20 below to 35 below zero is expected.
