Wheaton Bistro Makes National List of Best Al Fresco Dining Spots

Adelle's Fine American Fare in Wheaton was the only Illinois restaurant to make OpenTable's list of top al fresco dining spots.

WHEATON, IL — OpenTable just released its list of the best al fresco restaurants in America and Adelle’s in Wheaton earned a spot on the list. The local bistro joins the ranks of seaside cafés, island eateries and riverside restaurants throughout the nation.

The selections were culled from more than 25,000 restaurants and 10 million customer reviews. In total, just 17 states had restaurants that made the list, which focused on metropolitan and resort areas, OpenTable said in a press release. This year, Adelle’s was the only restaurant in Illinois added to this prestigious list of al fresco dining spots, despite the many outdoor patios and rooftop restaurants in Chicago.

"This year's list of winners features eateries nestled in nature, many of which offer waterside dining experiences that can make you feel as though you're traveling even if you're close to home," according to a statement from Open Table’s chief dining officer, Caroline Potter.

Adelle’s Fine American Fare has been a local favorite in Wheaton since 2004 for its inventive menu of American bistro fare, which includes duck confit gnocchi, blue cheese-crusted flat iron steak and pork tenderloin schnitzel. The elegant atmosphere is often underscored by live jazz, violin or piano. Adelle’s award-winning outdoor area is surrounded by fragrant flower gardens, sculptures, and meandering ivy, making it an ideal spot to sip wine on a warm summer night.

Adelle’s is located at 535 West Liberty Drive in Wheaton.
