Wheaton College Inaugurates Eighth President

A Wheaton College alum and Wheaton native, Dr. Philip G. Ryken, was inaugurated today, Friday, Sept. 17 as Wheaton College's eighth president

Wheaton College inaugurated its 8th president, Dr. Philip Graham Ryken today, Friday, Sept. 17 in Wheaton College's Edman Memorial Chapel.

Ryken, a Wheaton native and graduate of Wheaton College (1988), said that a "very early priority" in his presidency is moving forward with plans for a center for global and experiential learning. Other items will be budgetary, he added.

Ryken said he felt right at home at Wheaton College. He spent his childhood attending commencements, sporting events and concerts with his father, Dr. Leland Ryken, who is starting his 43rd year as a professor at Wheaton College this year. "Wheaton College is my natural habitat," he said. Ryken also attended Wheaton Christian Grammar School and Wheaton North High School.
