Former Wheaton College Student Pleads Guilty to Video Recording Women in Shower

WHEATON, IL - A 25-year-old Wheaton man pleaded guilty Friday to felony charges for video recording female college students while they showered in a washroom at a campus-owned apartment.
Alexander Lim, a former Wheaton College student, entered the guilty pleas to five counts of unauthorized video recording.
Lim was arrested in February 2015 following an investigation that revealed he had installed a “spyview camera watch” in a shower in the woman’s bathroom and had been secretly recording women while they showered since October 2014, according to a DuPage State’s Attorney’s Office press release.

A female student found the watch while she was showering on Feb. 22, 2015. She noticed the watch had a camera on its face and immediately called campus police. Lim was arrested the next day.
An investigation further revealed that Lim posted the videos online. Lim was released from custody on Feb. 27 after he posted 10 percent of his $75,000 bail.

Lim is next expected in court on June 30 for a sentencing hearing. The charge of unauthorized video recording is punishable by up to five years in prison.
“This morning, Alexander Lim admitted that on multiple occasions he violated the privacy of several young women while they showered in their own home,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “Such an invasion of privacy is not a harmless college prank, as Mr. Lim is now well aware.”
