Wheaton Dedicates Honorary Street Signs to Local Heroes
Wheaton in September enacted a resolution to establish an honorary street program.

Two city of Wheaton streets will soon bear the names of former residents who gave their lives serving our country.
This past weekend, city officials honored Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas Larson and Army Staff Sgt. Robert Miller during a ceremony to dedicate Wheaton’s first honorary street signs, according to a news release. The ceremony included the unveiling of the street signs. The sign honoring Larson is located at the intersection of West and Front streets and the sign honoring Miller is located at West and Wesley streets.
Larson, a graduate of Wheaton North High School, died while in combat in Iraq in 2004. Miller, also a graduate of Wheaton North High School, gave his life in combat in Afghanistan in 2008, according to a news release.

In September, the city of Wheaton enacted a resolution establishing an honorary street sign program. This program provides an opportunity to posthumously recognize former Wheaton residents who made significant contributions to the city, state of Illinois or the United States of America, according to city officials.
