Wheaton Explores Vision for Downtown
A public hearing on the proposed plan is expected later this year, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Creating "festival streets" and a "central park" in Wheaton were among the ideas proposed as part of the final draft of the downtown strategic plan and streetscape plan at a Monday night planning session, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The proposed festival streets would be located along Karlskoga, Hale and Liberty streets, would include outdoor dining and could be closed off to traffic "for festivals and community gatherings," according to the article.
The Chicago Tribune reports other proposed improvements include the addition of a central park downtown where the French Market would be located and would include an ice skating rink and small amipitheater; improvements to Main Street; and upgraded bike paths lighting, signs and street trees.
