Wheaton Public Library Celebrates Black History Month with Performance Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2pm
This Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2pm, actress Cynthia Maddox will portray Harriet Tubman, Gwendolyn Brooks, and more at the Wheaton Public Library.
Wheaton Public Library is celebrating Black History Month during the month of February with a dramatic and educational performance of five historically famous African American women by Cynthia Maddox this Sunday, February 8 at 2pm.
Through story and song, meet Phillis Wheatley, America’s first African American poet. Relive the Boston Massacre through the eyes of Crispus Attucks’ wife. Join Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman as they look back over their lives. Rejoice with Gwendolyn Brooks, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for poetry and a former Illinois Poet Laureate.
