Wheaton Public Library Celebrates Illinois Bicentennial

Programs and Contests Commemorate 200 Years of Statehood

In honor of the Bicentennial of Illinois, Wheaton Public Library has packed its September schedule with a series of fun, fascinating, and informative events all about the great state of Illinois.

Illinois-related trivia contests will be posted on the Library's Facebook page, along with Bicentennial Program punch cards that will offer participants a chance for prizes. Get your card punched at any Bicentennial program you attend. Fill your punch card (three programs attended) for a chance to win a prize.

Programs include an Illinois Bicentennial Bash, Thursday, September 13 at 7 pm; Violets: A Bicentennial Painting Workshop, Tuesday, September 18th at 7 pm; Ten Illinoisians Who Changed History, Wednesday, September 19th at 7 pm; Sunday Concert: Abraham Lincoln in Song, Sunday, September 23rd at 2 pm; Al Capone and the 1933 World's Fair, Monday, September 24th at 7 pm; and An Evening with Mr. & Mrs. Lincoln, Thursday, September 27th at 7 pm. You may pick up a punch card at any Bicentennial program, all of which will be held in Meeting Room A.
