Wheaton To Review Proposal To Build 8 Townhomes On Roosevelt Road
The city's planning and zoning commission will review the special use permit request at its Oct. 13 meeting.

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Planning and Zoning Commission will review a special use permit request for an eight-townhome development at 1701 E. Roosevelt Rd.
The site, part of the Roosevelt Road Corridor District, is currently zoned R-R-4. Zoning code for that area requires a 15-foot side yard setback, but the developer is asking for a variance that would allow a sideyard setback of 12.6 feet.
A public hearing was held in July, during which staff requested additional information and revisions to some of the site plans. Petitioners Roosevelt Commons initially requested a zoning setback variation for the development, but city documents show that revised plans eliminate needs for the setback variation.

The site had previously been used as a storage facility for a car dealership.
The proposed three-story townhomes occupy between 1,600 and 1,650 square feet. Each townhouse would feature a single-car garage, three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a skylight.
