Blackhawks' Toews Surprises Wheaton School with Visit

It was a great day Tuesday at Monroe Middle School in Wheaton.

It was an exciting day for Wheaton eighth-grader Jeff Kincaid. In fact, it was an exciting day for his entire school when Monroe Middle School in Wheaton received a surprise visit from Chicago Blackhawks’ captain Jonathon Toews.

Kincaid, 13, won an online contest sponsored by Bauer and Total Hockey and received a new hockey stick, skates and a $!,000 shopping spree, according to the Daily Herald. The companies also awarded $1,500 worth of new sports equipment to Monroe Middle School. The skates and hockey stick were delivered to him by Toews during a school assembly on Tuesday.

The surprise appearance by Toews during a school assembly elicited clapping, cheering and pre-teen girl shrieking as Kincaid met his “hero” on stage and shook his hand, the Daily Herald reports. Kincaid also was able to ask the Blackhawks captain a couple questions on stage.
