It wasn’t looking great for Wheaton Warrenville South with minutes remaining in Friday’s playoff game against Lincoln-Way.
But that all changed when Wheaton South’s Eric Lipinsky recovered a fumble with 1:32 left on the clock and the Tigers ”marched for 63 yards,” according to the Southtown Star. Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Ben Flores made a 28-yard field goal to tie the game and send it into overtime, the newspaper reports.

Wheaton Warrenville South, a No. 13 seed, went on to win against Lincoln-Way, a No. 4 seed, 17-10 in overtime.
Wheaton Warrenville South will now continue on to the second round of playoffs where they will play either Plainfield North High School (6-3), a No. 12 seed, or Normal Community High School (7-2), a No. 5 seed. Plainfield North and Normal Community will play on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Normal.
