The dog's owner, a Deerfield resident, says the dismissal deepens his family's sense of loss and frustration with the system.
   

• District 21 halts redistricting plan after enrollment drop (dailyherald.com) — Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 has paused its redistricting plan after enrollment unexpectedly dropped by 300 students, easing immediate crowding concerns at schools serving Wheeling families. Officials will keep monitoring numbers, continue planning a new early childhood center on Hintz Road in Wheeling, and decide later whether to keep modular classrooms and revisit boundary changes.
