10th Congressional District Candidate Forum on Mental Health Issues Oct. 14

WHO: U.S. Rep. Robert Dold and former U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider, 10th Congressional District candidates, will participate in Election 2016: A Candidate Forum on Mental Health and Social Services. Larry Yellen of FOX-32 WFLD will host. Mark Heyrman of the University of Chicago Law School and the Mental Health Summit will serve as moderator.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Cook County North Suburban (CCNS) and Mental Health America-North Shore (MHA-NS) are cosponsoring the candidate forum. Issues to be addressed by the candidates include mental health/social services issues tied to the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and Medicare; coverage and treatment of community mental health and supportive housing programs; health/mental health cost issues; the opioid and drug/substance addiction crises; and mental health parity.

The event is free to the general public. The event is tied to the annual National Alliance on Mental Illness-Illinois Educational Conference in Techny (October 14-15) Representatives from the sponsoring organizations will be available for media interviews at 4pm. The candidates and their staffs have been invited for 4pm arrival.
