A police chase on the Edens Expressway on Wednesday began with a trio of young women stealing Ralph Lauren Polo merchandise from a store in Northbrook Court and ended with felony charges from two local police departments according to reports.

A loss prevention agent at the store told Northbrook police just before 2 p.m. that three black women left with the merchandise in a white Hyundai Sonata with tinted windows. The car was spotted heading south on I-94 first by Northfield police and then by a Wilmette officer, who witnessed the car crash at Lake Ave. and Laramie after it exited the expressway at Skokie Blvd.

According to Wilmette police, the car “drove onto the property at 3504 Illinois Rd damaging shrubs/trees” and “came to a stop at 235 Happ Rd where all four subjects inside the vehicle fled on foot, but were all taken into custody.”
