WILMETTE, IL — Wilmette's Block Party is set to return for its fifth anniversary later this month with a full day of music, family activities and a new drone show downtown.
The free, all-ages event is scheduled to run from noon to 10 p.m. on Aug. 29.
The Block Party debuted in 2022 as part of Wilmette's sesquicentennial, or 150-year celebration. It has since become an annual late-summer event organized by the Wilmette Park District in partnership with the Village of Wilmette and the Wilmette/Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce.
Yearly, the event draws thousands of people downtown for local food, live music and family-friendly activities. In 2025, organizers said the event was record-breaking with 22 sponsors, 40 Kids Zone booths and nearly $47,000 raised.
This year's event will include a new synchronized drone show. Main stage entertainment is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with Hoopla, followed by Second Hand News at 5:30 p.m. and Final Say at 8 p.m.
Children's activities are also planned throughout the day. The schedule lists the Jesse White Tumblers at 2:30 p.m. and Miss Make-Believe on the Kids Zone Stage at 4 p.m. The Foam Zone is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m., and a Jump Zone with inflatables, a trackless train, games and more is planned from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Organizers are accepting sign-ups for volunteers and interested sponsors.
