Authorities: Strip Accused Oak Park Doc's License

Joshua Baron has been charged with an attempt to deliver a controlled substance and for the solicitation of a sex act

State authorities are attempting to revoke the medical license of an Oak Park physician who's facing charges for allegedly offering illegal prescription medicine in exchange for sexual favors, according to Cook County State's Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin.

Joshua Baron is . Baron, who attended a status hearing at Skokie Courthouse Friday morning, was arrested in January by Wilmette authorites. The 37-year-old declined to comment while in court.

According to a previous Rush University Medical Center profile, Baron was a pediatric neurologist with "a particular focus in epilepsy, particularly in neonatal epilepsy and the interactions between sleep and epilepsy. He has ongoing trials in examining sleep symptoms in children with epilepsy, as well as studies to evaluate novel pharmaceuticals."*

Baron has not been affiliated with Rush University Medical Center since February, according to Chief Communications Officer John M. Pontarelli. Meanwhile Conklin confirmed with Patch that the State's Attorney is working with Illinois Division of Professional Regulation to stop Baron from praticing medicine.
