Going Green Matters Continues to Green Wilmette
Go Green Wilmette members are looking back at a very successful Going Green Matters
Go Green Wilmette members are looking back at a very successful Going Green Matters on March 10 as they look forward to next year’s event. Go Green Wilmette works year round to raise environmental awareness in our community and we invite members of the community to work with us. Go Green Wilmette is inspired by Margaret Mead’s famous quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”

Did we change the world a bit? We hope so. Going Green Matters 2013 was a terrific success This year's event drew more than 1,000 residents, neighbors, elected officials, candidates, exhibitors, recyclers and volunteers! The rain did not stop the exploration, education, networking and brainstorming about how to live more sustainability. Getting 1,000 people under one roof all focused on the environment is a huge accomplishment and it was a dedicated group that made it happen.
One hundred and sixty valued volunteers helped staff information booths, serve food in the Go Green Café, unload books, bikes and electronics in the rain at the recycling collection, explain the raffle, provide crucial set up and clean up (wo)man power and more. Kudoos to all who made this a success!

Some of what made the event so special was the range of attendees from very young children to older residents, the energy that was palpable, the interactive learning both from the exhibits and the chance to exchange ideas and the sense of community.
The Exhibitor Directory is a valuable resource for anyone whether looking for workmen, information or how to become more involved.
