Car Burglary Suspect Nabbed on Elmwood Ave.: Cops

The Chicago man put up a brief struggle before his arrest.

WILMETTE, IL - Police arrested a Chicago man suspected in a number of auto burglaries in Wilmette early Thursday morning.

Dennis Darvis, 27, Chicago was charged with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and criminal damage after a foot chase and brief struggle at 2:52 a.m. in the 2200 block of Elmwood Ave. Police were called to the scene by a resident who reported “a suspicious subject breaking into his garage.”

Proceeds from several auto burglaries were recovered in his possession and additional auto burglaries were discovered in the area.

Darvis was linked to other burglaries to auto reports on Pawnee Rd., Cherokee Rd. and Elmwood Ave.
