District 39 Names New Principal Of Harper Elementary School

Aaron Dubnow, a former Wilmette Junior High teacher and Highcrest Middle School assistant principal, begins in July.

From District 39 Schools: District 39 Superintendent Dr. Raymond Lechner announced that Aaron Dubnow has been named Principal of Harper Elementary School effective July 1, 2019.

Mr. Dubnow’s teaching career began in District 39 after completion of his bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the University of Illinois in 2008. He completed a master’s in administration and supervision at National Louis University in 2012. Mr. Dubnow was an 8th grade teacher at Wilmette Junior High for seven years in math, social studies, and science. In 2015, Mr. Dubnow was named assistant principal for 5th grade at Highcrest Middle School. Dr. Lechner commented, “Selecting Harper’s next principal was a three-month process that involved a stakeholder committee and D39’s new Superintendent, Dr. Cremascoli. We are thrilled to have Aaron take the helm of Harper School following the retirement of Dr. Susan Kick. Aaron’s many accomplishments in D39 make him an excellent fit for Harper. He led significant improvements to the 4th to 5th grade student transition process at Highcrest and created positive connections with students, parents, and staff.”

Mr. Dubnow also has a wealth of extracurricular leadership experience in District 39 including athletic coaching and sponsorship of the Inspired Youth Tutoring Program and Highcrest student council.
