Drunk Driver Tries to Flee After Hitting Cop Car: Police

WILMETTE, IL - A Wilmette woman was charged with felony DUI Friday night after police say she backed into a marked squad car at the Jewel Foods store on Green Bay Road.

Margaret A. McNichols, 61, of the 2200 block of Crestview Lane in Wilmette was stopped in the parking lot at 10:48 a.m. when she backed into a squad car and attempted to leave the scene, according to a police report.

Police say McNichols had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on her breath and failed field sobriety tests.

She was also found to have had a revoked driver’s license for a previous DUI.
