Adam Kromelow, a Wilmette native and rising young jazz pianist at New York's Manhattan School of Music, returns to the Library with drummer Gregg Bendian, bassist Peter Brendler and saxophonist Jon Irabagon. Kromelow and Bendian played here to a packed house last June. Saxophonist Jon Irabagon has been cited as one of New York's "deadliest horn players". He was a winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition in 2008, and has appeared with such notables as Billy Joel, Wynton Marsalis and Lou Reed. Kromelow will be making his solo debut with the Chicago Symphony just prior to the concert. The quartet, dubbed Collective Language, pays tribute to Thelonious Monk at this year-end jazz fest in the Auditorium.
