First Wedding Planned At Artis Senior Living Of Wilmette
Artis Senior Living of Wilmette says its first wedding will include residents as guests and participants.
WILMETTE, IL — A Wilmette memory care community is preparing to host its first wedding later this month, when a staff member says his vows surrounded by residents, co-workers and loved ones.
Eric Huy, a care partner at Artis Senior Living of Wilmette, and Ann McCormick are scheduled to marry on Aug. 17 in the facility's courtyard.
According to Artis Senior Living of Wilmette, the ceremony will be the first wedding ever held at the community. The event is expected to include residents, team members and the couple's loved ones as guests.

Artis said Huy chose to share the day with residents because of the relationships he has built there. The community described him as a care partner known for bringing music and comfort to residents, including by playing guitar and singing in the neighborhood he serves.
Residents are also expected to take part in the wedding itself. Elizabeth Legaspi, a life enrichment aide and party planner, will work with residents to create wedding decorations. Artis also said a resident identified as Filomena, who has a special connection to Huy, will serve as flower girl.

The ceremony is set to be officiated by Josh Chavez, an ordained Artis team member. Artis said the courtyard celebration will be followed by a sparkling grape juice toast and musical entertainment.
The event reflects the kind of community Artis says it aims to build inside the memory care setting, where daily care can grow into lasting relationships. The community said the wedding brings together residents and staff members in a shared celebration.
“Eric has given our residents so many moments of kindness and genuine connection, so it feels beautifully fitting that they will now be part of one of the most meaningful days of his life,” said Josh Chavez, director of sales and marketing for Artis Senior Living of Wilmette. “This wedding is a reminder that care is not just something we provide; it is something we share. It shows how deeply our residents and team members become part of one another’s stories.”
