Saima Abbasi:
The Tree Walk was a huge success! The Nature Gods once again cooperated by holding off imminent rain. We had a beautiful fall morning with close to 60 guests attending GGW's Tree Walk!! It is so exciting to see several Wilmette residents enjoying the Tree Walk

The Village of Wilmette and the Park District sponsored the event. The Village forester Kevin Sorby had labeled trees with a yellow ribbon for tree identification. He said that he would leave the ribbons on for a week so that people can take self- guided tours in the Mallinckrodt Park.

A resident of the Mallinckrodt Park said that she now knows because of the tree labeling that a Gingko tree grows outside her apartment. It was great to see so many tree enthusiasts at the park with some people taking notes. With so much community interest we would like to make this an annual event.
Beth Drucker:
The first ever Tree Walk at Mallinckrodt Park was a great success with 60 friends and neighbors gathering on a beautiful morning. We had toddlers, students, families, dogs and seniors joining us.
Special thanks to Saima Abbasi for organizing the event and to Karen Glennemeier and Caroline Hoff for sharing their extensive knowledge about trees with us. The Village of Wilmette and the Wilmette Park District partnered with us and GGW Board members provided refreshments.
Everyone's positive energy made this www.gogreenwilmette.org such a fun and successful GGW event! We are so glad that many of you were able to join us.
