Kenilworth Implements Morning Traffic Changes on Abbotsford

With school in session, the Village wants to ensure the safety of student walkers.

A section of Abbotsford Road will become a one-way southbound street between 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. weekdays, according to the Village of Kenilworth newsletter.

With school back in session, "the high volume of traffic heading to Sears and New Trier schools has become a safety issue for the students walking in the morning," the release states.

To ensure student safety, cars will not be able to turn north onto Abbotsford Road from Kenilworth Avenue or Melrose Avenue during the designated morning hour. "Do Not Enter" signs will be added at high-traffic intersections along the route.

"The safety of Kenilworths' children are a top priority for the Village and this adjustment has been made with their best interests in mind."
