Loss Prevention Duo Pepper Sprayed In Black Friday 'Grab And Run'

A Chicago woman has been charged after police say she pepper sprayed employees at the Carson's in Wilmette on Black Friday.

WILMETTE, IL - A Chicago woman who police say was part of a group of "grab and run" offenders at the Carson's store in Wilmette on Black Friday is accused of using pepper spray on loss prevention agents who were trying to detain her. Doniesha Chew, 18 has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a merchant and one count of retail theft for the Nov. 24 incident at the Carson's at 3200 Lake Ave., according to Wilmette police.

A report indicates that between 3:02 p.m. and 3:10 p.m., two loss prevention agents saw Chew outside the store with a pair of boots that were on sale. While they were attempting to take Chew into custody, Chew retrieved a can of pepper spray from her purse and sprayed the agents, according to police.

Nine other people, seven women and two men all between 17 and 20 years old, were identified and released without charges.
