Loyola Names Former Chicago Bear Associate Athletic Director

Ex-NFL player, coach and television broadcaster Mark Carrier joins the Loyola Academy athletic department later this month.

From Loyola Academy: Loyola Academy Vice President of Athletics and Fitness Genevieve Baisley Atwood announcedtoday that Mark Carrier will join the school’s athletics department as an associate athletic director on March 25, 2019.

“I am excited to welcome Mark Carrier to Loyola Academy. Mark is a leader and team player who has extensive experience in athletics as both a coach and a player. Mark is passionate about positively impacting young people through sports. He will be an outstanding addition to the Loyola Academy Athletics Department, and he will provide additional support for all athletic programs. Mark will also assist the department as we develop and implement a strategic plan for athletics and fitness that can even better serve our student athletes.” “Joining the team at Loyola Academy is truly an honor,” Carrier states. “Without good mentors and coaches, my life would have been quite different. This position will give me the opportunity to help enrich the lives of young athletes and give back what was so valuable to me. I look forward to the strides we’ll take to make Loyola even greater than it is today.”

Since 2004, Mr. Carrier has served as a coach at the professional and college levels. He has been broadcaster for nearly three decades at networks such as WGN and Fox Sports. He played professional football from 1990 to 2000, starting his career as a free safety for the Chicago Bears, where he was a first-round draft pick. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Southern California. Mr. Carrier joins Atwood and other Loyola Athletics leadership team members John Holecek and Jeremy Schoenecker. More than 1,400 Ramblers participate in 34 different sports on over 80 teams at Loyola Academy.
