Man Dressed as Woman Robs Pharmacy at Gunpoint

$1,860 worth of prescription drugs were taken from Walgreens.

A man wearing woman’s clothing pulled a gun on a pharmacist at Walgreens at 2 p.m. Monday and demanded bottles of the prescription painkiller oxycodone.

The pharmacist at the store at 333 Ridge Rd. let him behind the counter, where he stole five bottles of hydrocodone, another opiate often used recreationally. He demanded the pharmacist get him more, and she gave him another full bottle and an opened bottle. He put a total of 2,955 pills down the front of his shirt or dress and left the store. The loss is estimated at $1,860.

Chief Brian King said the department is pursuing leads, but does not have a suspect yet.

“There’ve been no other robberies that fit this particular MO,” King said. “It’s possible his pattern is just starting. We’ve alerted all the pharmacies in the general area to be on the lookout for anything suspicious and to call the police immediately if they notice anything.”

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s with either gray hair or wearing a gray wig. He was wearing a white cap, shin-length skirt, three-quarters length jacket, gloves and sunglasses and had a black bandana pulled over his nose.
