Man Found Dead in Park Committed Suicide: Police

Police believe a deceased man found in Townley Field earlier this week by Kenilworth Park District personnel committed suicide.

“There is no indication of criminal intent or evidence to suggest that this individual ever posed a threat to anyone else,” police said in a statement to the Daily North Shore. “The investigation has not found any connection between the individual and the Village of Kenilworth and it is unknown why the individual chose the location that he did.”

Police believe they have narrowed the time of the incident to approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13. He apparently drove to the area and parked his car half a block from the scene.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.
