Man Tried to Pawn Items Stolen from Google: Police

Bruno Avila was caught at a pawn shop in Wilmette.

A man who tried to sell a Wilmette pawn shop various items was a janitor in Chicago’s Google offices.

The Chicago Tribune reports Bruno Avila, 32, Chicago was arrested at Village Loan and Jewelry pawn shop in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue on January 17 for possession of stolen property. The items he was trying to pawn - watches, cameras and tablets - belonged to the Internet giant’s River North offices.

Avila was not an employee of Google, but a Chicago company contracting with them for janitorial services.
