New Documentary Gives Insight Into Chicago's First Family Of Weather
'Meet the Millers' features Brant Miller, Joey Miller, who live in Wilmette, in a behind-the-scenes documentary from NBC 5 Chicago.

WILMETTE, IL — Chicago viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at NBC 5 Chicago chief meteorologist Brant Miller and his son, NBC 5 weather producer Joey Miller, in a new half-hour special set to premiere May 30.
The program, Meet the Millers: Chicago’s First Family of Weather, is billed as an NBC Chicago Original Production and coincides with Brant Miller’s 35th year at WMAQ-TV.
The special includes retrospective footage from Brant Miller’s career and scenes from his personal life. It focuses on the professional and comedic relationship between Brant and Joey Miller, described in the announcement as the only father-son meteorologist team in Chicago television today.

The documentary will also touch on the very close proximity of the Millers' respective Wilmette homes.
“I’ve spent 35 years guiding Chicago through everything from blizzards to heat waves, but the moment my son joined me in the NBC 5 Weather Center became one of the proudest in my career,” Brant Miller said. “This documentary shows the real fun behind the forecast, and the joy of getting to do this job with family. Chicago has trusted me for decades, and now they get to see why Joey still claims he’s the ‘normal’ one.”

Joey Miller also spoke about working with his father.
“Working with my dad is equal parts chaos, comedy, and genuine pride, and this special captures all of it,” Joey Miller said. “Viewers will finally see what I deal with every day, and why, somehow, I wouldn’t trade it in for anything.”
The special also includes interviews with NBC 5 News anchor Allison Rosati, identified in the announcement as Brant Miller’s 35-year teammate, and NBC 5 Storm Team meteorologist Pete Sack.

The half-hour program will stream at 6 p.m. on NBCChicago.com, the NBC 5 Chicago News live streaming channel and NBC Chicago’s YouTube channel. Meet the Millers was produced and edited by NBCU Local Chicago Multi-Platform Producer Hannah Lindvall and co-produced by NBCU Local Chicago Senior Content Producer Blake Dufner.
