New School Schedule In Wilmette District 39

WILMETTE, IL — The District 39 Board of Education approved several changes to the schedule for the 2017-2018 school year at a special meeting on Monday, April 3. A committee formed as a result of a teachers contract ratified last November issued recommendations to improve the district's kindergarten through forth grade scheduling.

After a process of revision, the latest recommendation include changes that shifts the start time 20 minutes earlier for grades one through four, while middle schoolers will see their start times moved back somewhat. Wilmette Junior High School will begin classes at 8:25 a.m. and Highcrest Middle School will start its at 8:50 a.m., according to the recently approved changes.

The adjustments to start times requires a providing five extra buses and an increase in bus fees. The additional $265,100 in costs will be split between parents and the district.

Despite the later start time for some schools, extracurricular activities will continue to be scheduled prior to the start of classes.

• AM – 8:35-11:10
• PM – 12:40-3:15
• No early dismissal
• Registration for Park District Kindergarten Enrichment begins April 11th

• Before School Care (Early Bird Program) opens – 6:45
• Student drop off – 8:20-8:35
• Bus drop off – 8:25
• First bell – 8:30
• School begins (tardy bell) – 8:35
• School ends Monday-Thursday – 3:15; buses leave – 3:25
• School ends Friday – 2:15; buses leave 2:25

• Bus drop off – 8:05
• First bell – 8:10
• School begins (tardy bell) – 8:25
• School ends – 3:10
• Buses leave – 3:20
• Late activity bus leaves – 4:45
