Northfield Driver Faces Weapons Charge After Traffic Stop: Cops

Wilmette police say they found a loaded semi-automatic pistol in Robert Johnson's pocket during the stop.

Wilmette, IL—A Northfield man faces weapons charges after being pulled over only a few blocks from North Shore Country Day School, Wilmette police report.

Robert Johnson, 51, of the 0-100 block of North Branch Road, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon after a traffic stop June 22. He was taken in to custody and released on bail.

Police pulled over Johnson at about 1:49 a.m. near Ridge Road and Hill Street/Winnetka Avenue after he committed an unspecified vehicle violation, the police report stated. During the stop, police uncovered a loaded semi-automatic pistol in Johnson's pocket, the report added.
