Police Investigating 3 Weekend Home Burglaries in Wilmette

Two homes were hit Friday and one on Saturday.

Police in Wilmette are investigating three home burglaries which were reported in the village over the weekend.

Reports indicate a home in the 3500 block of Lake was burglarized sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. on Friday, September 25 and another in the 700 block of LaCrosse sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. the same day.

The next day, a resident returned home around 11 a.m. to their home in the 1100 block of Michigan while it was being burglarized. The offender - described as a Caucasian or Hispanic man in his late teens - fled on foot. Entry was made through a window.

“In the fall home burglaries in the Village tend to increase especially at or near dusk,” according to a Wilmette police news release. “We ask that you lock your property, keep some lights on when you’re not home and more importantly, immediately contact the Wilmette Police if you observe suspicious persons or activities.”
